San Ramon Resident Kendall Iaquinta Receives Fulbright Award

Azusa Pacific University graduate Kendall Iaquinta, a San Ramon, California, resident received a prestigious Fulbright Award for the 2016-17 school year.

Iaquinta, a biology major, graduated with a bachelor's degree from APU on May 7, 2016. She will teach English in Malaysia.

"This opportunity allows me to see the character of God displayed in a new way through a new culture," said Iaquinta. "I am excited to teach students in Malaysia and form deep relationships with them."

Iaquinta is one of three APU graduates to receive a Fulbright Award this year, joining Claire Dresselhaus '15, and Emma Palm '16. Thousands of students from across the U.S. apply annually for the elite scholarship, yet only about 1,500 are selected. APU boasts 35 student Fulbright scholars since 2003.

The Fulbright Program is an international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government designed to "increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries." The Fulbright Program has provided more than 300,000 participants-chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential -with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
