Rancho Cucamonga Resident Emma Palm Receives Fulbright Award

2016 May 23

Azusa Pacific University graduate Emma Palm, a Rancho Cucamonga, California, resident received a prestigious Fulbright Award for the 2016-17 school year.

Palm, a sociology major, graduated with a bachelor's degree from APU on May 7, 2016. She will serve as an assistant English teacher in Taitung, on the southeast coast of Taiwan.

"Since my freshman year at APU, I have hoped to teach English in Taiwan after graduation. As a half Taiwanese American, I grew up visiting family in Taipei, Taiwan, and always enjoyed my experiences there," said Palm. "Throughout college I developed a passion for the teaching profession. This Fulbright provides me with an opportunity to improve myself as an English teacher and cultural learner in a place that I love."

Palm is one of three APU graduates to receive a Fulbright Award this year, joining Kendall Iaquinta '16, and Claire Dresselhaus '15. Thousands of students from across the U.S. apply annually for the elite scholarship, yet only about 1,500 are selected. APU boasts 35 student Fulbright scholars since 2003.
