APU Student Russell Mellen Wins Science Award

Azusa Pacific University senior biology major Russell Mellen from Seal Beach, CA, won second place for his project on the photosynthesis rates of plants with increased carbon dioxide levels at the Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) National Biological Honor Society at CSU-Monterey Bay.

Seven APU students presented their original research, alongside TriBeta chapters from all over California. Each presentation was evaluated based on degree of originality of the project, methodology and scope of the data, evidence of background knowledge of the project, and clarity of the presentation in two categories - Organismal/Ecological, and Cellular/Molecular.
