2015 Apr 30

Biology major Ellen Emery from Fort Collins, CO, won the John C. Johnson Award for her organismal/ecology presentation with fellow APU student Gabriel Martin, at the Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) National Biological Honor Society at CSU-Monterey Bay.

Their research aims to increase understanding of what happens to the developing fetal brain when a mother suffers from depression and/or anxiety during pregnancy.

Seven APU students presented their original research, alongside TriBeta chapters from all over California. Each presentation was evaluated based on degree of originality of the project, methodology and scope of the data, evidence of background knowledge of the project, and clarity of the presentation in two categories - Organismal/Ecological, and Cellular/Molecular.
